Canon EF 400 mm f/4 DO IS II USM

9. Ghosting and flares

The first and, in fact, the only weakness of the DO technology can be experienced when you try to shoot against bright light. Not only the contrast of your photos decreases at that point but also you catch many ghosts which shape reflects distinctly the structure of diffraction lattices used in the lens. What’s more, the artefacts and contrast decrease are visible in photos even if the sun is situated several degrees away from the frame corner.
