Astigmatism, understood as an average difference between horizontal and vertical MTF50 function values amounted to 4.5%. It is a level considered to be low so the performance of the Tamron should be only praised. Still you also have to add the Sigma result, that of 2.6%, was a tad lower.

Below we present the appearance of defocused circles of light at 200 and 400 mm. Apart from a noticeable rim on the edge of all circles there is nothing worrisome there. Mechanical vignetting is noticeable only at the maximum relative aperture and in the corner of full frame – a very good piece of news. To sum up, for a telephoto zoom lens the out-of-focus areas provided by the Tamron are very pleasing to the eye.
