6. Distortion

The distortion of the tested lens won’t be a problem if you use it with the smaller APS-C/DX sensor. At 70 mm it is only −0.27%, then it changes the sign and at 135 mm it gets to +0.49%, reaching its maximum of +0.70% at the 210 mm focal length.

Progressing to full frame won’t make you complain more. At 70 mm you deal with slight “barrel” amounting to −0.35%, which, after passing to 135 mm, changes into the „pincushion” variety of +1.03%. Once again the biggest deformations (+1.48%) are noticeable at the maximum focal length.

It should be emphasized that once again the Tamron fares in this category better than the Canon, the Nikkor or the Tokina.
