10. Autofocus

When the lens is attached to the X-T2 the autofocus motor is noiseless and quick as a flash. Running through the whole focusing distance scale and finding the focus takes 0.2-0.3 of a second, no matter from what end you start. It is a truly sensational result – we didn’t notice any focus hunting or any other problems even in worse lighting conditions.

If you attach the lens to the entry-level X-T100 camera the fastness of the mechanism remains similar but its performance slightly decreases. From time to time you can see red AF! letters on the display meaning the mechanism failed to set the focus even though it should have done it without any problems. Also it sometimes happens that the focus is confirmed in places where the image is obviously blurry. Fortunately these are sporadic occurrences which happens mostly during taking photos of not well contrasted areas.

We didn’t experience any problems with front or back focus for a change.
