Irix 150 mm f/2.8 MACRO 1:1 Dragonfly
9. Ghosting and flares
Anyway the Irix 150 mm f/2.8 MACRO 1:1 Dragonfly tested by us managed to produce such images as the ones, shown below. Flares are present no matter what aperture you employ and no matter to what body the lens is attached to. It also was irrevelant whether the sun was actually inside or outside the frame. When the sun was outside some shots became completely inudated with flares so utterly useless.
It is definitely not a result you would expect from a high quality, top-of-the-range lens. Mind you the task of the Irix was simpler, as it features less optical elements than its rivals so there are less air-to-glass sufraces to be covered by fine quality coatings.
