Astigmatism, understood as an average difference between horizontal and vertical MTF50 function values, amounted to just 2.9% which we consider a very low value. What's interesting, the cheaper Samyang once again prevails over the Sony GM 1.4/85.

The appearance of out-of-focus, blurry areas we find completely acceptable - on stopping down the aperture you can notice a lighter rim but the effect is hardly bothersome. Still mechanical vignetting remains a serious problem – it truncates the circle very distinctly by f/1.4 and remains quite visible by f/2.0.
