10. Autofocus

The autofokus of the tested lens joined with the Sony A7R II camera is noiseless but also quite slow. Running through the whole distance range and confirming the focus can often take over 1.5 of a second. Most of that time is lost due to focus hunting near the proper location. Still you should defend the Tamron a bit because its focusing range is much wider than that of its direct rivals.

The fact that, after finding the proper focus position, the lens never misses is also a bit consoling. Certainly the significant depth of field helps here but, nevertheless, the accuracy of the mechanism remains beyond reproach.

The lens also didn't have any problems with front and back focus tendencies and the section below proves it rather well.
