It is really difficult to guarantee good performance against bright light in such a construction as the tested Tamron. First of all you deal here with as many as 16 groups of lenses, with a huge number of 32 air-to-glass surfaces where you can catch unwanted reflections. As if it wasn't enough, the lens has a huge front element that is not especially shielded, changing physical dimensions, and inner focusing. All of these factors limit the number of apertures and ribs that can be put inside.
Taking it all into account the results, presented below, aren't that bad. Of course the lens still caught unwated light artifacts but their number and intensity were moderate. You can talk about medium performance in this category, without any serious slip-up.
