Sigma S 60-600 mm f/4.5-6.3 DG DN OS – first impressions
4. Summary
Several days spent with the Sigma S 60-600 mm f/4.5-6.3 DG DN OS proved that it's a very well-thought-out instrument, at least as good as its reflex camera predecessor that I praised and liked. What's more, the new lens is physically lighter; if the promises of the producer come true, it will also feature a better autofocus and more efficient image stabilization unit.

It seemed Sigma could defeat it because in 2021 they launched the S 150-600 mm f/5.6-6.3 DG DN OS model that is slightly lighter than the Sony and also cheaper. Currently, its price reaches $900 so it's much lower than even the best Sony bargains – so far so good.
However, in this situation a price of almost $2000 for the new 60-600 mm model might prove to be too high. Even if the Sigma 60-600 mm is optically the best out of these three, any potential advantages connected to a better image quality and wider focal range might not be enough to persuade people to spend several houndred $ more.
Of course we should be very pleased that the Sigma system got another good lens that makes our choice even richer. I don't doubt some will find the 60-200 mm range as important as the longer end of the spectrum and for these photographers the new Sigma S 60-600 mm f/4.5-6.3 DG DN OS will be simply a perfect instrument.
