Our tested Canon EF 90-300 mm is equipped with an ultrasound USM sharpness adjustment motor. Thanks to this feature it works quietly and rather fast. The example of the Canon 70-300 IS USM shows that not every USM motor works well. If the Canon has problems with its USM motor in the 2000 Polish zloty lens, how is it working in a lens that is two times cheaper? Well, it didn’t make a great impression on us since the accuracy measured on our testing charts wasn’t high and the lens missed in15% of cases. This is nothing to be proud of.

To finish this chapter on a positive note, the Canon EF 90-300 mm USM didn’t show a tendency for front or back focusing.
