When it comes to the image quality in the frame centre the Sigma is difficult to fault. You get sharp images of high quality even at the maximum aperture no matter what focal length you use. It’s worth adding here that the Sigma fares a bit worse than the Canon 10-22 mm, which in the category of image quality has broken sharpness records.

Unfortunately it is not easy to keep an extremely wide field of view sharp everywhere. The case of the Sigma shows it very well - the image quality at the edge doesn’t reach the level of 30 lpmm, considered as good, at any combination of focal lengths and apertures. The Sigma definitely loses to the Canon 10-22 mm which, up to f/8 inclusive, had the results above 30 lpmm.
