The tested lens shows slight barrel distortion which level we determined as –0.68%. It should be emphasized that such a result compares very favourably with those of other rivals. The Sigma 1.4/30, for example, had the distortion on the level of –2.1% but it can be defended by its focal length, shorter by 5 mm, and a wider angle of view. The Nikkor 1.8/35, with the result of –1.94%, can’t be defended by anything, though. The result of the Pentax is especially praiseworthy as it compares favourably with the results of full frame 35 mm class lenses on small sensors. For instance the distortion level of the Pentax smc FA 35 mm f/2 AL was –0.75%, a result within the margin of error, practically the same as in the case of the Pentax 2.4/35, tested here.
