Canon EF 200 mm f/2.0L IS USM
10. Autofocus
After using the original 1.4x Canon converter the autofocus speed seems to remain the same. If there is any slowing down it is imperceptible, not exceeding 01-0.2 of a second.
Theoretically the tested lens has a really shallow depth of field so any potential mistakes of the focusing mechanism should be easy to notice. It is just a theory, though; in practice there are no visible mistakes. The number of misses the lens had in studio conditions didn’t exceed the level of 1% - a really excellent result.

The cooperation with the teleconverter is also seamless – the autofocus didn’t miss almost at all. When it comes to the front or back focus tendency the lens set the focus a bit behind the target on both bodies, used in our test. When we took photos from greater distances that tendency wasn’t noticeable; you could perceive it only at the minimum focusing distance. What’s interesting, that back-focus disappeared after attaching the brand name teleconverter to the lens.
