- very high build quality,
- excellent image quality in the frame centre,
- very good image quality on the edge of the frame,
- practically zero lateral chromatic aberration,
- good correction of spherical aberration,
- negligible distortion,
- brilliantly corrected coma,
- not very bothersome astigmatism,
- low vignetting on APS-C,
- quite fast, very accurate and quiet autofocus,
- efficient image stabilization,
- rich accessory kit (filter, carrying case, tripod adapter, hood, caps),
- good cooperation with the brand name 1.4x teleconverter.
Cons:
- work against bright light should have been better,
- steep price.
It is really difficult to write something truly revealing in the summary of such instruments. If you need this type of lens and you can afford it the Canon 2/200 won’t disappoint you for sure. Of course you can always pick holes and carp about the work against bright light or point out that the rival Nikkor in some categories had better results. Still it won’t influence the final assessment of the lens, which is very good. There is even some consolation for those who find the price of tested lens too high: in the Canon line-up there is a slower but much cheaper and equally well-made EF 200 mm f/2.8L USM II model.
