8. Vignetting

The thumbnails, presented below, allow you to assess the vignetting of the Olympus 1.8/75.

At the maximum relative aperture the light fall-off in the frame corners reaches 28% (-0.98 EV). Such a value is not low and easily noticeable but still it can be deemed just moderate. By f/2.0 the vignetting decreases to 21% (-0.69 EV). The problem disappears by f/2.8 where that aberration decreases to 10% (-0.31 EV). It’s worth mentioning here that the results we got in JPEG and RAW files are very similar to each other – the differences between them don’t exceed 2% so they are in perfect accordance within the margin of error.
