6. Distortion

24 mm lenses have barrel distortion ranging from –1.3 to 2.5% on full frame. The result we got in the case of the Samyang 2/16 is –2.53%. It is not a value which might bowl us over; actually in a case of a ‘prime’ with the parameters of the tested lens you should expect something better. It’s worth reminding here, though, that zooms of all kinds designed for smaller sensors, with focal lengths starting from 16-17 mm, at the widest angle of view can have distortion even twice higher. Keeping it in mind it is evident what you gain using the Samyang 2/16.
