1. Introduction

With launches of such devices as the Canon EOS 6D or Nikon D600, D610 and D750 digital full frame cameras found their way to the amateur segment. Small wonder different producers decided to offer also lenses fit for that segment – at least I suppose it is the right interpretation of a launch of the Canon EF 24–105 mm f/3.5–5.6 IS STM which was shown during the Photokina in 2014.

Of course you could discuss at large whether a lens costing 1600 PLN, including certainly a lot of technical compromises, is a good working companion for a reflex camera with an excellent sensor which price tag is often 3 times as high as that of the lens itself. I am sure you might find plenty of pros and cons of such a solution but, in order to make the discussion more factual, we decided to take a closer look at the real performance of the Canon EF 24–105 mm f/3.5–5.6 IS STM and our results are presented in the following chapters.

We would like to thank Canon Poland for lending us one specimen for testing purposes.
