The Nikkor-AF-S 24–70 mm f/2.8E ED VR is the most optically complex 24-70 mm class lens available on the market. It contains a staggering number of elements, 20, positioned in 16 groups; it means the light can reflect from as many as 32 air-to-glass surfaces. When it comes to ghosting and flares, the task of its producer was very difficult indeed. The photos shown below prove they managed it moderately well. When the sun is situated inside the frame or close to its corner you can almost always catch the flares; fortunately if you move it outside the frame the artifacts become less pronounced or they disappear completely.
