6. Distortion

In the case of lenses designed for mirrorless cameras the distortion correction is often left for the software of the body to deal with. Still in the case of the 30 mm focal length which, on the Micro 4/3 sensor provides an angle of view of 40 degrees so very close to the standard one, there should be no distortion-related problems whatsoever.

Indeed there are no problems but it doesn’t mean the aberration is completely invisible. For RAW files you can notice “pincushion” of +1.09%, which is corrected to +0.17% in the case of JPEG files.

It is interesting how the distortion result of the tested lens differs from the results of the Panasonic 1.7/25, tested by us not so long ago. In that case the focal length is just by 5 mm bigger and the distortion had not only an opposite sign but also its value, that of −1.99% was noticeably different too.
