A huge front element, a lot of air-to-glass surfaces, an ultra wide angle of view and a fast aperture meant in this category the Sigma simply had to fail. Light artifacts appear in photos no matter the position of the sun; still if you include the sun in the frame or put it close to its corner your photos will feature quite a collection of ghosting and flares. Even if you move the sun far outside the frame the artifacts still will feature in your images, overexposing them in some places too.
None of the Sigma rivals could boast of good results in this category but we admit the Sigma fares perhaps the weakest. Of course you shouldn’t forget its task was also the most difficult of all.
