6. Distortion

When it comes to distortion correction the most of problems you encounter at the 10 mm focal length where you must deal with barrel deformations of -3.28%. What’s interesting, that result is lower than the result of the more expensive Nikkor 10-24 mm which showed a level of -3.77%. Still it must be mentioned that the image you get at 10 mm is quite interesting. When you move away from the frame centre deformations don’t change smoothly but by leaps. The distortion seems to be small in the area limited by 1:1 markers but later it becomes distinct.

After increasing the focal length to 12 mm the distortion decreases to -1.84%. At higher focal length there are almost no problems at all because at 15 mm we got a result of -0.69%, and by 20 mm it was just -0.28%.
