10. Autofocus

The autofocus of the tested lens, when joined with the Nikon Z7, is quiet but not completely noiseless. Fortunately you can hear just a slight whirr of the mechanism so it can hardly be called a flaw.

When it comes to the speed, it is moderate – running through the whole distance range and confirming the focus typically takes about 0.7-0.8 of a second. That value weakly depends on the direction of work and/or lighting conditions.

The lens didn't have any accuracy problems while tested both in studio conditions and outside. We were also happy with the performance of the face and eye detection system. Overall the autofocus seems to be working as well as it could be expected.

We also didn't experience any problems with front or back focus tendencies and the lens didn't need any AF microcalibration from the camera menu level. p>
