9. Ghosting and flares

The Sony FE 50 mm f/1.4 GM didn't have it easy when it comes to performance against bright light. It is a fast lens with a relatively big front element put very shallowly inside the barrel. What's more, it features as many as 11 groups of lenses and 22 air-to-glass surfaces where you can catch unwated reflections and ligth artifacts.

The lens didn't avoid problems but they could be registered mainly when the sun is situated inside the frame. If you move it a bit outside the frame most of reflections disappear and the images still remain properly contrasted.

In this category the tested lens deserves an average score.
