1. Introduction

In my reviews I have written time and again that I dream of a producer that would be able to offer for full frame a whole set of small, shapely, solidly build fixed focal f/1.8-2.0 lenses that will be also optically efficient. Currently I think Sigma is the closest to that idea – anyway so far their Contemporary series has achieved a lot.

It all started in 2020 when the C 35 mm f/2 DG DN and the 65 mm f/2 DG DN models where released. Especially the latter proved to be a very well-put-together instrument and it remains up to now one of the sharpest Sony FE system lenses I have ever tested. In September 2021 the line-up got enlarged by the Sigma C 24 mm f/2 DG DN and in February 2022 the Sigma C 20 mm f/2 DG DN was added as well.

On 3rd April 2023 the producer proved they haven't said the last word yet. Among three new lenses, launched on that day, there was also the Sigma C 50 mm f/2 DG DN, a classic standard device.
