8. Vignetting

First let's check vignetting level on the smaller APS-C sensor – appropriate thumbnails you can find below.

In this case there are practically no problems related to vignetting. Already at the maximum relative aperture it reaches just 17% (-0.54 EV) and it disappears practically completely by f/8.0 and f/11.0 apertures, where we got the following results: 6% (-0.18 EV) and 2% (-0.05 EV) respectively.

After passing to the bigger full frame censor the number of problems still remains low – and thumbnails below show it pretty well.

At the maximum relative aperture the light fall-off of the Sigma S 5.6/500 amounts to 34% (-1.21 EV), a moderate result. By f/8.0 brightness loss decreases to 20% (-0.65 EV), and by f/11.0 it drops additionally to 13% (-0.41 EV). By f/16 this aberration becomes completely imperceptible, with a result of just 6% (-0.18 EV).
