Nobody needs to be convinced that guaranteeing good performance against bright light in case of such original construction as the Sony FE 28-70 mm f/2 GM is very difficult indeed. Not only you have to cover a significant range of angles of view but also you get a very fast f/2.0 aperture that forces you to employ big elements. Additionally, you get a quite complex optical construction with as many as 28 air-to-glass surfaces. A changing focal length and the inner focusing that limits the places where you put apertures and inner ribbing make the whole matter even more complex.
As a result, the tested Sony model didn't manage to avoid slip-ups in this category but, taking into account the scale of the problem, it would be difficult to consider these slip-ups very disturbing. Overall we assess the performance in this category as medium.
