Polarizing filters test 2015 - Benro PD CPL-HD WMC

That make is rather associated with tripod stands, bags and backpacks than with filters. Still they have gathered a lot of positive opinions although the company comes from China. Taking into account the high quality of their equipment you simply have to look closer at their filters - we chose 4 models from different segments for our test.

Design, usage and summary

The filter comes with a screw-on ring – it is a big asset and hardly the cheapest solution as well. It is well-damped and turns with a moderate resistance. You can feel slight slack and there is a bit of whirr during the work. The filter is easy to clean from the outside but the inside demands a lot more work. During our test it acquired several tiny scratches which might mean the coatings aren’t exactly hard. The surface is covered by layers of multi- coatings.

The transmission characteristics are on a slope a bit which leads to warming of the tone of images. The extinction coefficient is good in the centre of the spectrum and weaker on its edges. In that case it’s clear the producer focused on a higher transmission level at the expense of the wider range of use.
