Nikon Nikkor AF-S 14-24 mm f/2.8G ED

6. Distortion

At the widest angle of view the Nikkor 14-24 mm has noticeable barrel distortion, which level we measured as –2.2%. It is an average result, and, taking into account the wide field of view, it is by all means acceptable. To be totally honest we must mention, though, that e.g. the Sigma 12-24 mm managed significantly better in this category.

With the increase of the focal length the problem of geometric deformations practically disappears. In the middle of the focal range the distortion amounts to only –0.58% and at 24 mm it decreases to a negligible level of –0.10%.
