The lens’s behavior in the center of the frame is very similar to the one at the 70-200 mm focal length. At the maximum aperture the MTF50 values are a little bit higher than 20lpmm, which is only an acceptable result. Fortunately, the situation improves and at f/8 the lens receives its maximum results of 36-38lpmm, which are considered good results.

At the 300 mm focal length the situation is a bit weaker. Even at f/8 it is hard all the way through to 30lpmm and the lens receives its maximum resolution at f/11.

We notice an even bigger disproportion between the focal lengths at the edges of the frame. The performance at 70 to 135 mm is up to standard, but the ensuing picture resolution degradation at 200 mm, and then even more at 300 mm, is unacceptable.

In summation, the lens is able to produce very good quality pictures, but we can only do it after stopping down the lens to f/8 and avoiding a focal length of 200 mm or higher.
