Coma is present here but it is not very bothersome and we can clearly say that the Nikkor 70-300 mm can correct this optical defect pretty well. After stopping down the lens even slightly the problem is almost absent.

The situation is similar with astigmatism; its level isn’t absent but it isn’t big either. The average difference between the horizontal and vertical MTF50 values measured in the center of the frame was 8%, which is a good result.
