Also the astigmatism contributes to the worsening of the image quality on the frame edge. In the case of the Olympus 7-14 mm it reaches 10.4%. It is also worth mentioning that the middle of the focal range is actually responsible for most of it and the maximum focal length fares the best here.

When it comes to the appearance of out-of-focus circles of light you find out it is far from perfect either. There is a lighter rim and traces of onion rings inside the circle. Still such results cannot be called very bad – after all blurred area are not a priority in a lens of this type.
