The tested Canon 24–105 mm features as many as 12 lenses groups which in practice means as many as 24 air-to-glass surfaces. Add to that a huge front element, light beams entering the system at obtuse angles, and a construction with changeable dimensions and you get a perfect recipe for problems with the performance against bright light.
Still, the way the tested lens fared in this category made us impressed. Of course different ghosting happened but the artifacts were not that numerous, being rather an exception to the rule than the rule itself. Additionally the overall contrast of images was good. A round of applause for Canon!
