The performance of the Sony FE 50 mm f/1.8 is very good, both in relative and absolute terms. The geometric deformations are hard not notice even on full frame but also the tested lens compares favourably to its rivals. Only the older Nikkor seems to be slightly better than the Sony; the Minolta fares, within the margin of error, the same. Other lenses are definitely weaker in this category; most notably the Sonnar, a device the most expensive in the whole group, had a strangely weak result.
