As long as you stick to areas near the maximum relative aperture you can count on a sensible performance against bright light. On stronger stopping down of the aperture, however, more problems appear - you can catch easily several colourful artefacts. At the same time, when the sun is situated just outside the frame corner you can generate a very bright flare, overexposing the bigger part of your photograph and spoiling the whole frame completely. Fortunately such a situation happens only with a very specific location of your source of light relative to your frame.
