10. Autofocus

The autofocus of the Nikkor Z 70-200 mm f/2.8 S joined with the Nikon Z7 camera is practically noiseless. You don't even hear a delicate whirr of moving elements. The speed is excellent as well – running through the whole distance range and confirming the focus takes about 0.4-0.5 of a second. It's such a good performance that you don't have to bother with a focus limiter that can be found on the lens's barrel; still, if you decide to use it the focusing time becomes exceedingly quick, shortening to 0.2 of a second. Such a performance certainly befits a good quality journalistic lens.

We don't have any reservations concerning accuracy of the autofocus because in this area once again the tested Nikkor performs as it should and as befits an expensive, professional lens. We didn't registered any misses either in the studio or shooting outside, no matter whether we took photos of static testing charts or a dynamically moving model. The number of misses remained zero in any and every case so this part of our test the Nikkor passed with flying colours.

Photos below show clearly that the tested lens doesn't have any problems with front or back focus either.
