11. Summary

Pros:

  • small, shapely casing made of metal so very solid too,
  • very good resolution in the frame centre,
  • sensible resolution on the edge of the frame,
  • negligible longitudinal chromatic aberration,
  • slight lateral chromatic aberration,
  • moderate distortion,
  • good coma correction,
  • very low astigmatism,
  • a possibility of using traditional filters with an ordinary diameter,
  • unique parameters.

Cons:

  • huge vignetting,
  • noticeable problems with spherical aberration,
  • performance against bright light could have been better.
The Venus Optics LAOWA 6 mm f/2 Zero-D MFT is not without flaws but, fortunately, most of them are quite tollerable. What's more, this lens has also a long list of important assets that compensate for them.

I don't doubt that Venus Optics showed that they know very well how to construct Micro 4/3 lenses and it is an example to follow for other brand name producers. This little lens proves that you can design and manufacture a small, shapely, lightweight device that is also solid, relatively fast, sharp, and it comes with unique parameters. A round of applause!
