10. Autofocus

The autofocus of the tested lens joined with the Sony A7R III is noiseless and sensibly quick. Running through the whole distance range and confirming the focus takes from 0.6 to 0.8 of a second and depends on the focal length you apply. The mechanism is a bit faster at the shorter end of the focal spectrum and a bit slower at the longer one.

During our test we also checked the performance of the Samyang's focusing mechanism combined with the smaller sensor Sony A6400 body; the performance of the focusing mechanism was equally noiseless and equally fast. as the one when the lens was attached to the A7R III.

The accuracy of the mechanism was good in case of both studio and field photos, as the number of misses reached about 4-5%. Perhaps the performance wasn't perfect but it also didn't give you any reasons to complain.

The tested lens didn't have any front or back focus tendencies either.
