1. Introduction

The Meike company appeared on the European market almost ten years ago. At first they offered small manual lenses designed for cameras with smaller sensors. Then they released first models designed for full frame and in 2018 they launched the Meike 85 mm f/1.8 AF, their first lens with an autofocus system. Still, that construction came as Canon EF and Nikon F versions, both designed for reflex cameras.

In the meantime the company kept enlarging their line-up of fixed-focal manual lenses, mainly with instruments addressed to filmmakers and videographers.

In 2022 took place the first launch of an autofocus lens, designed for full frame mirrorless cameras – the Meike 85 mm f/1.8 FF STM. It was launched at first as a Sony FE variant and then they showed also Canon R, Nikon Z and Fujifilm X versions.

Meike 85 mm f/1.4 FF STM - Introduction

In 2023 Meike autofocus lenses were finally released and they came simply in waves – currently, there are as many as nine of them available on the market.

The time has come to check efficiency and quality of these lenses; we chose the Meike 85 mm f/1.4 FF STM, a lens that is perceived as one of flagship instruments of that company. A specimen of the lens was sent to us courtesy of SystemBank, the official distributor of Meike products in Europe.
