In order to present the full performance in this category we also decided to show crops taken from photos of a starry sky, taken from the upper left-hand corner of full frame. This time we use images registered by f/1.4, f/2.0, and f/2.8. In this case coma is a bit more conspicuous but you have to remember you deal here with an image of a very bright and strongly overexposed star – that's wy so much light went to the 'wings' created by off-axis aberration of higher degrees.

Astigmatism, understood as an average difference between horizontal and vertical MTF50 function values, amounted to just 9.1%. It's a level on a borderline of low and medium values even though we still count it as low. The respective result of the expensive Sony FE 85 mm f/1.4 GM II was practically identical.
The appearance of out-of-focus images is very nice. The circles feature a very even and smooth light spread. A brighter rim that appears on more distinct stopping down of the aperture is not especially intensive. Circles we got in the frame centre still feature a nice, circular shape even on stopping down to f/2.8, an excellent example of the effect you can achieve by employing as many as 12 aperture blades. Mechanical vignetting is a bit more of a problem – it remains bothersome even on stopping down the aperture by 2 EV.
