The Sigma 2/20 performs well against bright light – no mean feat with such parameters of the lens. Still you should add that huge vignetting helped a lot with that. The sun put in one of frame corners is weakened by 4 EV and vignetting in the other corner, reaching equally high level, additionally damps down any possible unwanted light effects.
Not arguing about the possible reasons any longer you can say the Sigma produces few light artifacts. Even if you try to catch something it is not easy, and overall contrast of images is nicely preserved as well.
