In 2016-2018 three f/1.4 fixed focal lenses from the Contemporary series were released, all of them designed for mirrorless cameras with sensors smaller than full frame. We think here about the 16, 30, and 56 mm models. At the beginning there were L-mount, Sony E, and Micro 4/3 variants to choose from but lately also Canon EF-M and Fujifilm X mount types have been added, with the Canon RF mount shown quite recently.
We've had an opportunity to test all of these lenses and our opinion about them was very high. Their optical properties were good or even excellent and their prices – quite affordable. Undoubtedly because of that they have been more and more popular, with a lot of satisfied users.

Still, the last of these instruments was launched four and a half years ago and some have started to wonder whether or not Sigma gave up on other models of this line. The answer was given on 3rd of April 2023 when that producer announced three new lenses, the Sigma C 23 mm f/1.4 DC DC among them. It is a nice addition to the three models already present on the market, being an equivalent of the classic full frame 35 mm lens. The following chart presents a comparison between basic parameters of all instruments of this series.

Courtesy of K-Consult, the official Sigma distributor for Poland, we had an opportunity to handle and test a Sony E version of the pre-production specimen of this lens before its official launch. Now we decided to order the final specimen in the form of the Fujifilm X mount version, to find out how Sigma managed to implement that. What are the results?
