When it comes to the performance against bright light the Sigma surprised us very nicely. The challenge was really big here - the huge front element and a complex optical construction didn't make it any easier. Still in photos light artifacts are few and far between. You can catch them in really exceptional circumstances. What's more, even if you put the sun close to the frame corners you are able to get high contrast images. The performance in this category is perhaps not ideal or outstanding but certainly good.
