Viltrox AF 27 mm f/1.2

1. Introduction

Lately Viltrox launched an all-out attack when it comes to fixed-focal lenses designed for mirrorless cameras with APS-C sensors. What's important, these are autofocus instruments, offered as Sony FE, Fujifilm X, or Nikon Z mount versions.

At the beginning we saw mainly f/1.4 models but lately Viltrox has been diversifying their offer, dividing it into two lines. The first one consists of small, lightweight and cheap f/1.7 lenses. The second one includes bigger, heavier, and uncompromising f/1.2 models. Are they good? We made sure of it while testing the Viltrox AF 75 mm f/1.2 that up to now holds our resolution record for the Fujifilm X sensor.

After that test we knew that, if Viltrox decided to launch other lenses in this segment we would like to take a closer look at them. In August 2023 this company launched the AF 27 mm f/1.2 and today we are proud to present its full test – enjoy!
